Perfect bush gun
I presently own 28 different calibers and 32 rifles. The Marlin 336 in .444 Marlin is by far the most impressive of them all. I realize this sounds a bit far fetched being compared to the good old 30-06 or .308 or even the trusty .270. My point is solely based on what we expect of a +40 calibre and the performance of this round. Sighted to 25 yards this rifle (even being a lever action) with careful hand loading prints clover leafs out to 145 yards off the bench and can easily print 4 MOA in the same ranges mentioned shot off hand. For a gun packing this much punch this is impressive. It kicks less and shoots flatter than a 45-70, packs more punch than a 30-06 and is overall a fun gun to shoot. I am in no way claiming this calibre is "better" than any of the other calibre's mentioned for any given situation let me summarize by saying if one is looking for the perfect bush gun, for quick shots with plenty of knock down power and is willing to reload then this IS the gun for you in this trusty platform.

Plain and simple. Just a great rifle!
This is one of the best selling lever actions for a reason. I have a Henry which I love but the tube magazine was always an issue with me personally. The 336 you can easily load from the side. Also side ejection unlike others that eject from the top. Solid feel and a beautiful walnut stock. Accuracy is really good. At 100 yards I can group 6 shots within 2". This is just using the iron sights! I'm sure with a RedDot or scope it would be as good at 150-175 yards. With the newer ammo over 200 yards is a definite possibility. Presently out of the box it was a bit stiff but after a few dozen rounds its starting to limber up. I'll be enjoying this rifle for years to come!
