Fantastic Rod!
I am mostly fishing from the shore on the Ottawa River. Pike and Bass are what I catch the most, with the occasional Musky and walleye. I tried many Medium, Fast Action rods in both Baitcasting and Spinning rods and always felt the backbone needed to be a little stiffer for my taste. As I prefer Spinning as opposed to Baitcasting, I tried several MH, Fast Action Spinning rods over $100. I must admit that I didn't really want to spend so much money on a rod but at this time of year, the 2-piece rods with the specs I was looking for are a scarce resource. Although this one is 6" shorter than I would have prefered, I was quite stunned by its lightness, stiffness, how balanced it is, how great it felt in my hand and let's admit, it looks pretty sweet too!
Under Rick's recommendation (he is the man!), I paired it with Shimano's NASCI C3000HG. I have been fishing for 35 years and this is by far the most satisfying combo I have ever used! The Shimano looks and feels like $1000. Spooled with Power Pro 20lbs braided line, I am impressed with the distance I get with every cast, in spite of the 6" deficit to a 7 footer. In fact, I realized the shorter rod is actually a benefit as I can cast easier that with my 7', with which I always end-up wacking the bushes behind and above me on the OR shores. The retrieval is extremely smooth, sensitivity is second to none, and the backbone and stiffness are exactly what I have been lusting for. I casted every Rapala's sizes, shapes and types, spoons, crankbaits, platic worms, tubes, etc. I was so pleased with how it operated with lures of every size, type and weigth (I didn't try 2+ oz musky lures, of course) I had this kid's grin on my face all afternoon while fishing. I highly recommend and would buy these again if they were stolen from me.
